David Trimble

David Trimble is the Managing Director of GAO’s Physical Infrastructure team. He oversees the team’s work examining transportation systems, telecommunications networks, oil and gas pipelines, federal facilities, and the U.S. Postal Service.

David first joined GAO in 1986. From 1986 to 2000, he worked in GAO’s field offices, as well as at headquarters, on a wide range of issues. David rejoined GAO in April 2009 after working for 9 years in the Department of State's Political Military Affairs Bureau as the Director of the Office of Defense Trade Controls Compliance. He has also served as a Director on GAO’s Natural Resources and Environment team, where he oversaw work on environmental cleanup, Department of Energy management, nuclear nonproliferation, and radiological security and smuggling. David joined GAO’s Physical Infrastructure team in 2020, as a Director overseeing work on the U.S. Postal Service and federal real property management, including facility security.

David earned a master's degree in policy analysis from the University of Chicago. David earned a bachelor's degree in philosophy from Lawrence University.
