Highlights

With its Strategic Plan for Fiscal Years 2021-2025, the Government Accountability Office (GAO) Office of Inspector General (OIG) establishes the vision, goals, objectives, and strategies for its oversight activities for the next five years. Under the authority of the GAO Act of 2008, the OIG independently conducts audits, evaluations, and other reviews of GAO programs and operations and makes recommendations to promote the agency's economy, efficiency, and effectiveness. The OIG also investigates allegations of fraud, waste, mismanagement, or violations of laws or policies involving GAO's operations or its employees. The OIG will continue to focus on identifying and mitigating challenges facing GAO in fulfilling its mission to support the Congress and exercise its responsibilities. This updated plan supersedes OIG-16-2SP, OIG Strategic Plan: 2016-2020, February 8, 2016.
