Rebecca Gambler is a Director in GAO’s Homeland Security and Justice team. She leads GAO’s work on border security, immigration, and elections issues. Within these areas, her work addresses a range of topics, including metrics for assessing border security efforts, technology deployments along the southwest border, commercial vehicle wait times at ports of entry, immigration detention issues, voting equipment and voter registration, and waiting times at polling places.
Rebecca joined GAO in 2002. Before becoming a Director, she worked on a wide range of issues related to homeland security and justice, including DHS management and transformation and federal efforts to address gang issues. Prior to joining GAO, she worked at the National Endowment for Democracy’s International Forum for Democratic Studies.
Rebecca has three master’s degrees in National Security and Strategic Studies from the United States Naval War College, International Relations from Syracuse University, and Political Science from the University of Toronto. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Messiah College.
