Opioid Misuse Impacts on Older Workers

Opioid misuse has resulted in the deaths of over 840,000 Americans since 1999, and the pandemic has exasperated this crisis. The pandemic has exacerbated this problem. In fact, more than 75,000 deaths were attributed to overdoses between April 2020 and April 2021. We’ll talk to GAO’s Tom Costa to take a closer look at one population particularly affected by the opioid crisis, older adults.
