When they do, students can suffer. Students may have trouble graduating, paying back their loans, or finding a job. In recent years, the Department of Education has penalized 13 colleges for substantial misrepresentation. However, we found that Education does not have complete and updated procedures for overseeing colleges. We made recommendations to better protect students and hold colleges accountable.
