To offset the United States' traditional warfighting advantages, adversaries seek to exploit the information environment, including information technology and social media. Threats in this area include intelligence collection, cyber attacks, such as attempting to install malware on weapons systems, disinformation in order to influence decision makers, and degrading capabilities that use the electromagnetic spectrum. Our new report describes the Department of Defense's use and protection of the information environment. We profile six different areas, including threat actors and actions, and emerging technologies.
