Notice to Those Impacted by the Recent GAO Data Breach

For those who may have been impacted by the recent data breach involving GAO, please be aware that GAO has secured identity protection services from IDX (IDX Identity Theft Protection). IDX will be contacting impacted individuals by letter or by email in order to provide information on how to sign up for these services. Notification emails will come from this email address: reply@idxmail.us. If you are impacted and contacted by IDX, you can sign up for the services offered for your identity protection at https://response.idx.us/GAO; the enrollment code will be provided in the letter or email you receive. The services will be provided free of charge to those impacted by the data breach.

After being notified, GAO took steps to begin identifying and notifying the impacted individuals regarding the potential release of their personally identifiable information (PII) and banking information.

No matter your decision on the identity protection services, we recommend that you:

  • Visit the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) Identity Theft webpage (www.identitytheft.gov) for information on actions you can take. Their ldentityTheft.gov Assistant is an interactive tool that provides recommended actions individuals can take.
  • Obtain a free copy of your credit report once every 12 months by visiting annualcreditreport.com or by calling toll-free 877-322-8228.
